Sahara Adventures

My name is Mustapha. I would like to share my family history.

My roots trace back to a nomad family. My grandparents used to live in the desert as nomads. Depending on rain and other environmental factors, they decided to move to another place or to stay in one place up to one year.
20 years ago, rain in desert was common and nomads fed their animals from desert’s plants. By holding sheep, goats and camels nomads were able to nourish their families from the desert only. After a continuous change in climate, rain and subsequently plants have become a great rarity and make life in desert difficult. Nowadays, when children are supposed to go to school nomadic life in desert is no longer possible.
Thus, after marriage my parents moved to a village to allow their children to attend school and to gain access to education and work. After school, I decided to move to the desert again to follow the history of my family and to experience the life of nomads.
Since 10 years I have been living the life of my nomad grandparents. I have learned how to detect water in desert, to hold camels, to use desert plant, to orientate myself by the stars from my family. By being in charge of conducting overnight stays in a desert camp for 7 years, I have collected profound expertise in accommodating tourists and providing insights into the nomadic way of life. I will be happy to share this knowledge and experience with visitors in desert.
